Faridabad, August 03,2016(abtaknews.com)The YMCA University of Science and Technology, Faridabad today signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Daikin Airconditioning India Pvt. Ltd (DAIPL) to start a Centre of Excellence (CoE) on HVAC Systems in the University that will impart practical skill training and industrial exposure to the students within the campus. The Centre of Excellence (CoE) is first of its kind set up by the Japanese Company – Daikin India in any Educational Institute in this region.The MoU was signed by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Daikin Airconditioning India Pvt. Ltd Mr. Kanwal Jeet Jawa on behalf of the DAIPL and the Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. Dinesh Kumar on behalf of the University.
On this occasion, Prof. Dinesh Kumar and Mr. K.J. Jawa jointly inaugurated the Centre for Excellence, which has been developed in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Laboratory of the University and inspected the equipments being provided in the centre. In this Centre, the experts from DAIPL will impart training to the faculty and students on the advanced technologies in Heating Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) System using air-conditioning units supplied by DAIPL.Terming YMCA Institute as one of the best of its kind in engineering education, Mr. Kanwal Jeet Jawa, who is also an alumnus of YMCA Institute of 1981 batch, shared his experience with the students. He also detailed about the achievements of Daikin India. Mr. Jawa said that “this partnership is aimed at upgrading training in Air Conditioning to international standards. We at Daikin are committed towards excellence in technology and quality; and this initiative will provide a platform to these students to enhance their skills and get access to world class training in Air conditioning.”
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dinesh Kumar said that YMCA University is committed to produce industry ready professionals and the MoU with DAIPL will make the University enabled to bridge the gap between industry and academia by incorporating the global industrial practices and technologies into the academic curriculum and also improve employability and self-competence of students.Prof. Dinesh Kumar said that University is keen to boost such kind of collaboration for the benefit of students. The University is also looking to expand such agreements in the coming years for promoting excellence in the field of Science and Technology.
The Vice Chancellor disclosed that the University is intend to start a one year Diploma Course in Mechanical (HVAC) so as to ensure the optimum utilisation of the infrastructure and facilities developed by the Daikin in the centre and maximum students could be benefitted with this initiative of the University. He appreciated the efforts made by the Training and Placement Office for making such industrial tie-up for the promotion of excellence in higher studies and motivation of students.
The Training and Placement Officer of the University, Dr. Vikram Singh informed that this is the second Centre for Excellence established in the University with Industry collaboration. Earlier, aCentre of Excellence under the theme ‘Climate and Energy’ with an investment of about Rs. 20 lakh was also set up in collaboration with Danfoss Industries Private Limited, Chennai – A Denmark based company in the University premises in November last year.
Apart from all the Deans, Chairperson of the University, Mr. Sanjay Goyal, Mr. K.D. Virmani, Mr. APS Gandhi, Mr. Sachin Arora from Daikin India and Registrar of the University Dr. Sanjay Kumar Sharma were also present on this occasion.
